We are book lovers ourselves and whenever we want to learn about something, we invariably turn to books first. When we first got actively interested in homeschooling, we used books to learn about learning! We voraciously consume books, and the ones we like we add to our catalog. We are always on the look-out for more good books, and we rely on your suggestions. There are just too many good resources out there for any one person to keep up with!

In keeping with our philosophy that learning should be fun for the whole family,  you won't find a lot of textbook style, or curriculum oriented books here. We try to carry books that you and your children will find entertaining and enjoyable as well as educational and informative.

Ordering Information

Placing an order

We will accept orders online, by mail or by e-mail (our fax line is currently down), and payment can be made by check, money order, American Express, Discover/Novus, MasterCard, Visa, or PayPal. Our shopping cart has a secure server for providing credit card information, but if you prefer, you can mail a check to PO Box 1394, Pasadena MD 21123.

Use our shopping cart for the items you would like to order. Just click on the blue order buttons next to each item. You can change the quantity if you want more than one. Return to the catalog to add additional items until you are done shopping. At any time, you can click on the View Cart button to the left to see what you have ordered so far or to change quantities and check out. If you change your mind about an item, just change the quantity to zero (0) and click on the "Recalculate" button on the bottom of the page to remove it.

Feel free to put any special instructions or notes in the Comments/Special requests box of the shopping cart form when you check out. If you prefer, you can send you entire order by e-mail. Just be sure to include your name, address, and phone number. If you are not using the shopping cart to order any items and just want to provide us with your credit card information for an order that you sent by e-mail, you can still use the secure shopping cart to  provide your credit card info Your credit card doesn't get billed until we box up your order for shipment.

Please note that when you place an order, we may have a question about your order - and if we do, we will probably email you within two days of the time you place your order. So, you may want to check your email for couple days after you place an order. It would also be helpful to add our domain address - -  to your "safe" or "white" list so our email doesn't end up in your SPAM inbox. It's also a good idea to add and so that you receive your tracking information. Adding the information isn't a guarantee that the email will not end up in your SPAM folder, so you may want to


If you are not satisfied with your purchase, please return it for a refund or replacement within 30 days. All we ask is that the item be in like-new condition and that you pack it securely and send it to us with your instructions (exchange, refund, or replacement). We recommend that you insure returned items as we cannot be responsible for damaged or lost shipments. Please note that audio and video recordings (CD's or tapes) can be replaced by the same title if they are defective, but can be returned for refunds only if unopened.

We do not charge a restocking fee on returns, but if the item is not in like-new condition, a fee may be applied. Also, please note that we will only refund the price of the items purchased, not the shipping. If your order received free shipping, a shipping charge may be assessed if the returned items cause your remaining total to be less than the amount required to qualify for free shipping.

A refund can take 2-3 weeks to process once we receive the return, though it may be processed more quickly.

While it's not required, we appreciate your feedback as to why you are returning an item. We have refined product descriptions based on customer comments.

Please note that if you qualify for free regular shipping, but want to get rush shipping, we will either charge a minimum of $15 or the actual cost rush shipping minus $15. Our shopping cart isn't sophisticated enough to handle this and will not show the shipping charge, but we will add it when we process your order. If the fee will be more than $15, we will contact you.

We typically ship by UPS Ground but will ship by USPS Priority Mail if it is more cost effective. If you provide only a PO Box address, we cannot ship via UPS and will ship by Surface Postal Mail unless it is cost effective to ship by USPS Priority Mail. Surface Postal Mail can be very slow, so it would be helpful if you could provide both a PO box and a street address. This will allow us to choose which method to use (indicate a preference, though, and we will try to honor it). If you must have the package sent by USPS Priority Mail,  put a note in your shopping cart's comments box. Depending on the weight and size of the package and the distance it needs to travel, the automatic shipping and handling quoted in the online shopping cart may be enough. If the cost is higher, we will contact you.

If we have your e-mail address, we will also be able to provide you with tracking information when your order is shipped.

Rush Shipping will be by our choice of UPS 3-Day Select service or USPS Priority Mail. (Please note that delivery times are based on business days, so weekends and holidays are not counted.)

Alaska, Hawaii, APO, FPO: We do not use UPS due to the high expense (though we can if you request it and are willing to pay the extra cost); instead, your order will be shipped by USPS surface mail, which can be slow. If you prefer the faster service of airmail, you must request Priority Mail (put a note in your shipping cart's comments box). Depending on the weight and size of the package and the distance it needs to travel, the automatic shipping and handling quoted in the online shopping cart may be enough. If the cost is higher, we will contact you.

Signature Confirmation

Your order may be sent using signature confirmation, which will require someone at your delivery address to sign for the package. If no one is available to sign for the package, the delivery person will leave a note and attempt subsequent delivery (usually three times).

If you would prefer to have delivery without this feature, please put in your shopping cart comments box a note saying “Do not require a signature upon delivery”. Some delivery companies will even allow you to keep a note on file to release all packages without a signature. Choosing to ship the product with no signature required is the sole risk of the purchaser. FUN Books will not be responsible for lost or stolen packages. No refunds or replacements will be granted.

Order processing time

We always process orders as quickly as possible (most orders go out the day following receipt of the order), but we are a homeschooling family and sometimes are involved with activities or events that may delay getting your order out by another day or two (conferences, field trips etc.). Rush shipping is for delivery by UPS 3-Day Select service or USPS Priority Mail and does not increase the speed of order processing (we do place your order ahead of ground shipments), only the delivery time. 

If an item is out of stock, or you have requested a special order item, it may delay your order and we ask that you allow up to two weeks for delivery. If it looks like a backordered (out of stock) item will delay your order more than that, we will contact you and give you the option to drop the item from your order, wait for it to come in and have your complete order shipped together, or have the available items shipped immediately and pay a shipping fee to have the backorder shipped later. If you decide to wait and the backorder takes more than two weeks, we will ship what we have now and ship the backorder when it comes in without any extra shipping charges. If we cannot contact you quickly, we reserve the option of mailing your order immediately without the out-of-stock items since we do not want to delay a rush order.

Please note that if you pay by check, we will hold your order until the check clears our bank (usually about 2 weeks time). If you use the check option with PayPal, it takes 5-7 days before your payment is cleared and your order is shipped.

Use a work address and get your order sooner: Please note that UPS provides slightly faster delivery to business addresses and guarantees transit times unlike with residential deliveries. This means you may get your order sooner if it is shipped to your work address. Just provide us with your home address and the separate "Ship To" address. This option is especially beneficial if you live in a rural area and it can help us save a little money since UPS charges us extra for residential deliveries.


Pay by personal check or money order in U.S. funds drawn on a U.S. bank, PayPal, or by credit card.

Please contact us to determine shipping options and actual charges. Because of postal changes, surface mail is no longer an option.

If you do not verify your actual shipping charges before placing an order, then add the following to your order total:

Canada: 30%
Other foreign countries: 40%

We ship orders internationally on a case-by-case basis. There are some countries we will not ship to and there are some items that we do not ship internationally. Once you place your order, we will let you know as soon as possible if this is the case. Alternatively, you can email us before you place your order to find out if we will ship to your country.

We will charge you the actual shipping charges plus a nominal fee for the packaging and handling, not the above percentages. These are estimates that should hopefully be more than enough to cover your shipping costs. You may be due a refund or you may owe money and delay your order if you pay by check or money order; please use a credit card if possible.

You should also be aware that international mail is subject to customs inspection in most countries, and a customs duty (import tax) may be due. Your country may also charge other taxes on purchases from the US (such as VAT). Any additional charges assessed by your country are your responsibility and it is impossible for us to determine what the charges might be and they cannot be prepaid. Only your customs office can determine what charges are due, if any, and normally your post office will collect the fee from you. The good news is that many countries exempt books or personal purchases. Please be aware of the policies of your country before placing an order.

*Free shipping applies to prepaid orders only, not to purchase orders by schools or other organizations. Also does not apply to international orders.
